Adventuring Alli

The city of love. The city of lights. The capital of France. There truly is no place in the world like Paris. With being not only a beautiful, historic city, but also one of the biggest romance capitals of the world - you can imagine that this destination has countless opportunities and experiences awaiting you! Read more to find out the top six places you should visit while exploring this beautiful location.

6. The Palace of Versailles

Built back in 1631 by King Louis XIV, this historic (and enormous) building should be one of your stops while visiting Paris. This palace contains 2,300 rooms and is open for tours to the public. There is also a Hall of Mirrors (that has a total of 357 mirrors, to be exact) and this location is where the Treaty of Versailles (what ended World War I) was signed. From luxurious decor to historical significance, this stop is definitely worth checking out.

5. Luxembourg Gardens

If you would like to go for a walk in a beautiful park (for free, may I add) and adore the beautiful 106 statues spread throughout, then Luxembourg Gardens is for you. This was created back in the early 17th century along with the Luxembourg Palace. On average, it takes people around a half hour to explore the gardens as well, so this park can be a quick stop during your exploration of the city.

4. Notre Dame

This beautiful cathedral has been around since 1163! Fun fact: All roads in Paris lead to Notre Dame. The monument also contains the largest organ in the world. But most of all, this cathedral of known for its interesting architecture. Pay close attention to all of the details when you visit! As for right now, visitors are unable to enter the building due to the fire that occurred several years ago, which caused one of the spires to collapse. However, the government has announced that they are planning to re-open it again come 2024.

3. Louvre Museum

This famous museum is the most visited art museum in the entire world! Over 15 acres in size, this museum is located underground and includes all sorts of beautiful pieces - including the Mona Lisa! Keep in mind, with being one the most famous museums on the planet there are bound to be crowds, so if you are hoping to get proper views or photos you will need to visit this place during low-tourist season or on off days, such as Wednesday or Friday.

2. Arc de Triomphe

Number two on our list of must-see places in Paris is the Arc de Triomphe. This structure took over 30 years to build in total, and is located in an enormous traffic roundabout within the city. Therefore, you must travel underground in order to get to this monument. This location is also a huge interest for history-buffs, as the walls list all major historic battles and names of soldiers. Not only this, but you can also climb to the top of the monument via the stairs inside - I highly recommend visiting the top around sunset. You may just get the chance to see the Eiffel Tower light up in sparkles from this viewpoint, and trust me, it is so worth it.

1. Eiffel Tower

Finally, as a surprise to no-one, the main attraction for visiting Paris is the Eiffel Tower. This world-famous landmark stands at over 1,000 feet tall and is covered in 20,000 lightbulbs. At nightfall every day, you can watch these lights make the tower appear to sparkle for several minutes (as mentioned above). You are able to climb this monument as well to get to the very top! The bottom section you must go up hundreds of steps. Then from the mid-section up there is an elevator. Also, on the second level, a Michelin star restaurant can be found. Enjoy a delicious meal at the most perfect location in one of the world's best cities!
