England - Euro Trip - Part 3

View of city from the London Eye

Our final day in England was an amazing one. We were sad that our adventure in Europe was coming to an end, but even so, there were still many places we had yet to see. With that, we were off back on foot once again to explore the second half of the city we had missed on our first day.

We walked across Tower Bridge and along the river again, grabbed lunch at a pub we happened to see on a small side street, then kept walking all the way until we came to the London Eye. Of course, we had to ride it! We were able to order tickets on the spot and board a mere twenty minutes later. The pod we were in had maybe four to five other people, and even though there were small benches in the center for seating, we were all standing to grab as many photos as we could while the ride took us higher and higher. The view was absolutely gorgeous!

After this, we then crossed the river again in order to see Big Ben. It is so strange when you see certain monuments only in pictures or movies for so long and then find yourself seeing it in person! We then headed past Westminster Abbey to head towards Buckingham Palace by passing through a quaint park full of pedestrians and even waterfowl that ran circles around us.

Buckingham Palace was full of tourists taking pictures (no surprise there), but it was still an incredible place to see. There were golden designs lining the fence and even a tall one towards the front of the palace. These pieces of art shone in the sunlight so bright!

Finally, we made our way to Trafalgar Square, perused some souvenir shops, and took the long way back home to our hotel. The next day, we would head back to Dublin where we would explore the city and pubs there once more before we were to head back to the United States. We had done our first international trip alone, and managed to see everything we hoped to see (minus Blarney Castle in Ireland since I was sick). This adventure was one of a kind, and I will treasure it forever!
